What to do in the event of a breakdown

The diagram below , shows the status of your Daikin Air source heat pump system.

A blue color means the unit is operating correctly and the Red color means there is a fault with the system.

There will be a description of the fault on the screen, please make a note of this.

To reset the fault you will need to turn off the power to the outdoor unit, there will be an isolation switch (colored white, yellow and red) please see below, switch this to the O position (off) leave for 10 seconds and turn it back on again.

Switching the isolator off and back on should reset the fault and the Daikin eye should return to a blue color again, the heat pump will then start working again, in either heating or hot water mode, depending on the requirement.

Blue Color Eye

If after resetting the heat pump the Daikin Eye returns to the Blue color however still doesn`t work, please check that the operation mode is switched on.

With the left hand knob on the front of the Daikin heat pump controller, turn it to Operation mode, click the left button and make sure both Space Heating and Tank are ON, if not select the function with the left knob and turn the right knob until the symbol states ON.

Press the Home button to return back to the home screen.

Red Color Eye

After resetting the power supply the Daikin eye is still a Red color, again make a note of the fault, then you may require an engineer to visit

Simple checks

Things to check first before calling Daikin

The water pressure in the system, you will find a water filling loop on your system, normally located near the cylinder or the Daikin indoor unit.

The pressure in the system should be 1.0 - 1.5 bar, if below 0.5 -1 bar, you can top up the system by opening one of the black valves inline with the pipework, and then control the amount of water that's pressurising the heating system with the other black valves, once back up above 1 bar, switch off both black valves.

See below a photo of the filling loops we normally supply

Filling loop and pressure gauge.

Blocked Filter

If your Daikin Heat Pump is displaying a 7H fault (flow error fault), it may be caused by lack of pressure in the system, so always check this first, however it could be a blocked filter.

The filter is positioned outside on the return pipe work to the heat pump.

You will require a adjustable spanner to remove the filter cap, first of all shut the valve, so the handle is across the pipe (not inline with the pipe) unscrew the plug anti clockwise, place your finger inside the filter and pull it out of the socket, give it a good clean and replace again, make sure its in the correct position (it can only fit one way), do not over tighten the plug screw, it has a big rubber on it.
